In the Seller's own words.... WHAT MAKES THIS HOUSE SO SPECIAL? That’s what this portfolio aims to answer for you. This house is very special to me, and if my family actually had a chance to live in it, it would’ve been an even more difficult decision to sell it. I have no doubt in my mind that whoever gets to live in this house will enjoy all its amenities and comfort. INTRODUCTION While excellent workmanship and luxurious amenities are standard in homes of this proportion, some of the distinguishing (and priceless) features that I think really make this house stands out from the rest in its league are the following:

In the Seller's own words... As much as this house was designed for our family, my husband and I have purchased enough houses to know that too much structural “personalization” to a home would make it difficult to sell if we ever decided to do so. After all, we weren’t going to live forever, but we just didn’t realize that we’d be selling this soon. Since there’s so much to this home, I decided to author this short novella to help you understand the reasoning behind the design of the home. While it would’ve fit our family perfectly, I have no doubt that my family’s routines share similarities with many other families who are able to afford a home of this grandeur. It makes sense to start with the building foundation. By that, I mean to start with the lot itself, the architect, and the builder of this grand estate. After living in Naperville for five years with two young daughters, we had decided to settle in Naperville for good. My husband and I travel a great deal but we hadn’t found any city offering anything close to what Naperville offers to families. With our parents visiting on a regular basis from California and Wisconsin, we needed more room to accommodate the families when they’re in town simultaneously. We found this lot after viewing numerous others in Naperville, and thought it was perfect. The lot was a good geometric shape, in feng-shui standards, and a good size, in our family’s standards. There is plenty of room for future expansion as our needs change. We searched for our builder via the 2004 Luxury Home Tour. After interviewing three of the builders from the tour, we found Lee Norton of Nottingham Builders to be our ideal builder. His homes were designed with elegance and comfort in mind, which matched our family’s priorities. Lee was also easy-going in nature and we felt we were in good hands with him. He did not disappoint us. The Architect provided by Lee designed the home after detailed conversations with us about our wants and needs, and we were ecstatic with the conceptual drawings he came up with in the months that follow. There were many tweaks and revisions afterwards since the feng-shui specialist got involved at that time. However, Lee and the architect were excellent listeners and we worked together wonderfully. Lastly, the interior designers from Interiors, Etc. got involved to review the plans and made sure another set of eyes reviewed our plans. Thanks to everyone’s help, I’m proud to say that the house is a perfect synergy of elegance, function, and comfort. GARAGES My husband and I liked balance in our lives, so it’s not a coincidence that this house displays much symmetry in its interior and exterior designs. There are two generously sized 2-car garages on each side of the home. Thanks to my husband, the garage spaces are deeper and wider than most so they could accommodate any-size vehicles with ease. We designed two separate garages for functional reasons: The garage to the master suite is designed to be used mostly for the individuals residing in the master suite. Since it has direct and private access to the study where important information was kept, this limited the people who’d walk through the area. The second garage, where the family vehicle is kept, would be used mostly for the rest of the family and as a service entrance. The mudroom is generously proportioned to make sure it’s not cramped when the entire family pours in from the garage and the hard surface flooring allowed for easy cleanup after a day of trekking in wet and snowy weather. |
