The finest master retreat in Naperville |
|
...in the Seller's own words... When we designed the master suite, my husband went through his weekday routine to derive the flow of the master suite. Starting with him coming home, he would set down his coat, drop off his work bags in the office, and freshen up before his adoring daughters attacked him and recounted their day’s goings-on. Thus, as you walk from the garage through the master suite, you will notice that the design accommodated his routine. The master bath is separated from the bedroom, which allows him to get ready early in the morning without disturbing me. In the bathroom, we insisted on the adjustable shower tiles to accommodate the different showering habits and the physical height differences between my husband (6’ 3”) and me (5’ 4”). The digital shower thermostat was the “toy” aspect for my husband, so he can have the shower exactly as he’d like it at the touch of a button without fidgeting with the typical water controls. The master closet is not the largest that I’ve seen. However, to avoid clutter, we wanted to remind ourselves that the closet is used only to display clothing appropriate for the season. Given the large amount of storage space throughout the house, and an elevator servicing the attic to the basement, the task of storing last-season clothing should be less daunting. One thing we did do out of the ordinary was installing a set of stackable washer/dryer in it. This would allow us to throw things directly in the washer and skip the laundry basket, which would lessen the chance of us scrambling for clean towels. The feng-shui specialist insisted that there should be as few doors to the bedrooms as possible to create the optimal resting environment. This was important to us considering how the few hours we have to sleep each night. However, to facilitate a good night’s sleep, the winding staircase would allow us to gain access to the downstairs workout area without bothering the rest of the household. The oversized study was a big deal for us. Most of the comparable homes we saw had a very compact study. Since my husband and I both work, and many times from home, we wanted a spacious work space. So, the office was designed to generously accommodate up to two desks. The extended walkway out to the rest of the living area could easily be sectioned off by adding a hidden bookshelf-door just after the guest bath, to fend off curious guests should the existing door not do the trick. |
